SSD performance degradation, Crucial C300 vs. OCZ V3...

I have two systems with different SSD drives; the performance of both systems with Win7 64-bit is just fine, there are no issues.

Just out of curiosity, I compared the AS SSD historical benchmarks performance to see, if there's any substantial performance degradation between the time frames the benchmarks were done. The Crucial C300 seems to hold its performance pretty well:



That isn't bad after about five month without TRIM, relying on GC. The OCZ Vertex 3 on the other hand seems to be loosing its edge after less than a month:



That's a substantial performance degradation, especially for write performance and that's despite the fact that TRIM is enabled. Since TRIM does not seems to be able to maintain the performance of Vertex 3, is there a way to regain the lost performance? Thanks...

Here are some of the differences between the systems....
The system with the OCZ SSD is based on the Asus P8P67 L-E board, the CPU is i5-2500K, and runs Windows 7 SP1. The system with the Crucial SSD does not have SP1, the board is Asus P7P57 Pro with the Marvell chipset for the C300, and the CPU is Core i5.

It's the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver software V10.1.0.1008 and the Intel Chipset Inf Update Program V9.2.0.1015....

The WEI score for the SSD is 7.9, at least that what it was the last time I've checked it. And yes, the end user (she'd be ticked off if she'd read this ) does log out couple of times a week for hours.

This is a business desktop and I'm sort of curious, if within five to six month how far this drive performance will deteriorate? Certainly, there are ways to restore original performance, but I wouldn't want to go through that process every month or so. It's a good thing that the Vertex 3 is one of the fastest SSD on the market. Even 20% performance degradation is hardly noticeable...

I've just reran the WEI test for the machine with the Vertex 3 SSD:



The OCZ Vertex 3 still shows up with the score of 7.9, even after the large performance drop in the write speed of the drive. I am puzzled as to what can cause this much drop in the write performance?

The machine in question has been logged out 3-4 times over a week for couple of hours, that was the first thing I've started to do to regain the write performance. I'll wait couple of more week to see if it'll change. If not, just create an image backup, do a secure erase of the SSD, and restore the image. If it still the same, then it'll be hammer time!

I guess patience does pay off sometimes; while the drive didn't fully recovered, it's on its way:



Maybe in time it'll recover to the performance level advertised, nah...
