CPU maxed out!
I recently had an infection on my Win7 machine yesterday (long story)...anyways, I removed everything and I am noticing frequent maxed out CPU. Currently, the only things I have running is Firefox, Office Outlook 2010, IE, Adobe Reader, and Word 2010. Why is the CPU going crazy? I did look in the task manager and didn't see anything out of the ordinary but I did notice a lot of svchost.exe tasks.
I currently have BitDefender 2011 Total Security free trial on my system... Help... ![]() |

I ran MBAM and it found nothing. I know it's not normal for the CPU to be out of control like this! I had KIS 2011 but from time to time it would unload itself out of memory and yesterday while I was out, it did this and while I was gone I got infected. BitDefender seems pretty good but now I'm trying to figure out this CPU thing...

Try running Sophos Anti-Rootkit and the portable version of Super-Anti Spwyare. I'd also uninstall all security programs after cleaning with removal tools and install MSE.

Try malwarebytes as suggested by zigzag in safe mode.
If that turns out OK, I would also suggest removing BitDefender. You can put back later if so choose, but for now, lets just be sure it isnt causing a problem. You can replace it with MSE for the time being. |

you could try system restore, followed by a chkdsk, and a malwarebytes and mse scan (1st, last, w/e.).
dunno.. that's what i would do. EDIT: in windows task manager, view, select columns.. click PID. now you can check the svc process number and google it. hope that might help. |

Can we see a few screenshots of this...and how long does it last?
For the record if the CPU hits 100% for less then a couple of seconds its not an issue. |

Attached are snapshots as requested. I left my laptop on all night so BitDefender could do a full scan. The deep scan didn't really find anything. However, the full scan did...
I did run Hitman Pro 3.5, Trend Micro HouseCall last night and they found nothing. I'm trying desperately not to wipe and start over again because it's a pain, long process, and I need my PC this week! ![]() ![]() |

Maxed out CPU as soon as i boot up I recently installed windows 7 onto my computer and since then my cpu has run at or very near 100%. I haven't had any BSODs, yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they started to occur if my system continues to run maxed out like it is. Below are some screen shots of my task manager and a program I... |
