High CPU usage java se binary

Really need some help here guys if you can. Ok i will start with the fact that there is a software that i use which uses java. It's been running fine until today. whenever i open the application i get a warning come up on the bottom right hand of the screen saying that java se binary is using a cpu usage of 100%. And it's causing the software that i use to slow down and what have you and the fan goes mad. It also does it on other applications ie windows movie player, sims 3 and a few other games only occasionally. It shouldnt be doing this as my computer is near enough new.

    I'm running windows 7 x64 bit
    AMD Athalon II P320 Dual-Core Processor 2.10GB

    Memory/Ram 3.00GB

Display Adapter ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series

Is anyone else having the same problems with the java binary?

When these applications run the java binary says
Java se Binary is not responding. Yet when it does it is killing my cpu.

I can't see how there is a problem with my computer as it was only repaired 3 weeks ago because the hdd failed on it after only 6 months.
All my drivers are up to date so are the plug ins so am now starting to wonder if it is the java program.

Any advice on how to get the cpu down when it happens would be much appreciated thank you in advance.

Clear the Java cache and see if that helps ... How do I clear the Java cache?

Also make sure you have the latest version--> JRE 6u25

Completely Uninstall Java from Programs and Features. Return to Java.com and download a fresh copy of Java Runtime. This will get you up-to-date on the Java version as well.

Side Note: Windows 64 bit has IE 64. DO NOT use IE 64, stick with IE8 or 9 32 Bit. IE 64 Bit is not ready for prime-time use. You will have problems with Flash and Java if you try and use IE 64 bit for "all" web surfing--especially gaming.
