    issue expanding harddrive partition

i added an attachment for my disk management screen, so refer to that.

i have a second HDD just for storing video crap for projects that i work on. its getting filled up cause i have several concurrent projects going on right now, number 1; and number 2, i allocated way too much space in the beginning for the audio partition that i have set up just for audio work. i was wanting to reduce the audio partition and send the remainder to the video partition. when i did that it told me it would change the basic disc(s) to dynamic disc(s) and not wanting to deal with that, i just said no.

so is there a way around this? a 3rd party program or something? my gut is telling me that it is saying that because the freed space is not sitting next to the drive i want to add it to.. but it's at the end of the line. i changed the drive letter of "audio" to B:, hoping it may switch them to alphabetical order, but that didn't do anything. so i changed it back to N:

any recommendations? or will i have to start all over from a blank drive?

hi khuntington, and welcome to sevenfourms,

make a new partition in the unallocated space. move your audio into it. then delete the middle partition, which will make some vacant neighbouring space to extend the first partition over.

it's a bit fiddly, and will take some time, but it should work.
