For win7 32-bit its 1 GB of RAM and for 64-bit it's 2 GB.
I wonder why does 64-bit bit require more? I would've understood if they put 4 GB as it could fully read it unlike 32-bit.
But 2? Why not 1 GB as for 32-bit?
A 64-bit OS allows programs to use more RAM than 32-bit. 32-bit OSes will set a low limit on RAM usage, whereas 64-bit has less restrictions. Because Windows 64-bit will allow itself (as well as specific programs) to use more RAM, chances are it's not designed to handle such a comparatively-small amount as 1GB.
64 bit registers, addresses and data are twice as wide as 32 bit. That's what makes it faster, and that is why it needs more RAM.
for 64 bit 3GB is best. its looks same ever think but it has huge difference . most of the game user & grapfix dessiner use it for better perfor . if you r do this type of work u will find the difference . in this type of field its show high performance .
Yep 64 bit is quicker. More robust, maybe not. If by robust your mean stabile, beefier, easier, its not. It has more trouble getting decent drivers, is a bit more finicky, etc.
It is however worth it if speed is your objective

I have windows 7 64-Bit and im running 8Gbs of OCZ Fatal1ty Dual Channel 2048MB PC8500 DDR2 1066MHz Memory and its running really good i love win7 64-Bit
I was actually confused by the OPs question...since were on a programming subject here I thought that he meant robust meaning bug free or less bugs than x86.
I guess that is just my programming coming out of the cracks....
I've been using 64 bit since Windows XP and as long as you placate it with the correct drivers and a little more memory it seems to suffer less crashes, it prevents certain hacks through having a protected kernel and it's quicker to boot.
It's way past time that all new computers were 64 bit IMO.
More secure, less crashes AND faster?
