S3 sleep (suspend to RAM) not working

    It always has been this way.

    BIOS default setting. All drivers through the standard genuine Windows 7 Ultimate x86 install and Windows update. All downloaded apps are open source, except Microsoft applications and games, which are all bought in stores in terms of physical media or on Steam (Only Valve and id software games).

    I never updated the BIOS, but that isn't a problem to do because I have a non-writeable recovery BIOS and a seperate writeable BIOS.

    Oh and I have Service Pack 1 installed.

    Interesting. So you can create a hibernation file (powercfg -h on), but you don't get hybrid sleep at all?

    All I know about that hiberfile is that when I type 'powercfg -h on' in the cmd.exe with admin rights, it prints a blank line and returns to the prompt.

    Nothing is affected after reboot.

    I must add that I only have general knowledge about the NT6 architecture and what it does, but I don't have indept knowledge about the registery and the various options and commands in NT6.

    I gues I should load that config file somewhere?

    Hi ACO,

    Someone else seems to have had a similar problem, which we were able to solve. I'm not sure if this will work for you, but it might be worth a try, unless cluberti has other suggestions.

    Try this:

    powercfg -h OFF.....to turn off, and then
    powercfg -h ON.......to turn it back on again

    This "reset" seems to have helped the other person, so I'm hoping perhaps it could help you too.
