    Win7 memory use too low.

I have Win7HP. When I look into System properties it states: Installed Memory(RAM) 4.00 insatlled (3.50 usable). I have run the memory test suggested in the forums elsewhere, and it results state 4.00 g installed and no problems or errors.
I have tried the suggestion to:run msconfig, select boot tab, choose advanced options, and uncheck the Max mem box. Ihave followed these instructions to the letter, and I still have only 3.5 Gs used.
When I was running Vista, it used all my memory, and my game (Alganon) performed without any faults. Now, the program chashes (Alganon has stopped working) almost ever time I run it. Nothing else has changed, nothing. I want to know why windows has determined it will not support my 4 Gs in this much-touted Windows7HP.

Hi Intrepid5295 and welcome to W7 Forums

Do you have a 32-bit OS ? If so, then that will explain it. A 32-bit OS can only address 4GB of memory space, and that includes I/O devices and other hardware mapped into that space. When this has been taken into account, then, depending on the hardware and devices present on your system, this can leave between 3.25GB and 3.75GB of RAM available for use. In order to be able to use the full amount, then you need to use a 64-bit OS.

That's all well and good, but the info I've recieved states that w7-64 is not a good games platform. That and the fact that I have 4Gs and you say that the missing .5G is mapped for other hardware, so how will 64 help?
