Windows 7 SLEEP MODE FIX !

    Computer Won't goto sleep ?
here is why and how to fix it

By default Windows 7 has media sharing turned on ( for xbox , ps3) ect

this pervents it from going into standby Mode

    The Fix is Simple

    Open control panel and goto

Power Options > change Plan settings > Advanced Power Settings

    +Sleep
    Allow hybrid Sleep > disabled
    Allow wake timers >
    disable/enable try both settings

    +USB
    USB selective suspend > ENABLE

+When Shareing media [ This is the critical one ]

Set to allow the computer to sleep

I still have problems with the Sleep/Hibernate modes. I'm going to set up a bunch of TV recordings for this weekend and just let it go and see how many BSOD I get. Maybe they will fix this problem with SP1.

nah it doesnt, but dunno if its less frequent or not. It only happens if you have taskbar on auto-hide anyway...

I think I have the latest updates but I still got a crash yesterday when I setup some shows to record and then left the system alone. I didn't get the BSOD but a complete system lock up.

I'll check out that Digital Life spot but I'm probably going to go back to Vista before the Fall TV season starts.

I had 2 successful Sleep/Wake events. Then it was back to the BSOD.

    I give up.
