OS and Programs Keep Freezing

I recently changed my hard drive from a Seagate to a Western Digital and used the system image tool in Windows 7 which had issues itself

Can't see second Hard drive after using System Image Recovery

Since then programs just seem to freeze or stop responding for a short moment and then start to work again. So far this has been in Windows explorer, Office 2010 (mainly Outlook), Firefox 6, and Window picture viewer.

I tried a fresh install on a 80Gb WD hard drive and the same happens. so I'm thinking that my system now doesn't like WD Hard drives since a recent system upgrade.

Can anyone give me some pointers or ideas on how to resolve this?

Hi

I'd be surprised if it is your system 'not liking WD HDD's'. Disconnect your old drive and see if the problem still exists with just your newly installed OS.

Let us know what happens.

I think i've fixed it. Despite using the latest SATA drivers for my motherboard, Gigabytes Driverguide found some newer ones for a different board installed them over a week ago now and it seems to be stable.
