Laggy Bubble Screensaver

I am on 7 RTM. The ribbons/bubbles are slow/choppy when they come on by themselves. If I preview them, they're fine.

My setup is:

q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
6GB Ram
3x9800GTX+ (not actively bridged)
6 Monitors (2 per card)

I could try dropping down to one in 3xSLI mode, just for grins, but the preview works great, so I am inclined to believe it is some thread scheduler issue, or basically, priority when kicked off by the timer instead of me.

Also, when I have all 6 monitors active, I get "Windows has detected slow performance" during wallpaper changes. I turned that off so I just don't SEE it anymore, but interesting that I get it at all.

9800GTX+ aren't kick-butt cards anymore, but they handled Vista's Aero just fine (but Media Player wouldn't play when I had 5+ active).

Found the trouble for me: my monstrous desktop has an oddball, compound issue:

Single monitor (SLI or not): Set the 'On resume, display logon screen' checkbox and the bubbles/ribbons slow down a little (acceptably fast still).

Six monitors active: Set the 'On resume, display logon screen' checkbox and the bubbles/ribbons slow down to a crawl.

Single or Multiple: Uncheck 'On resume, display logon screen' and the bubbles/ribbons are speed demons.

On my Dell D820 w/3.25GB Ram and Geforce Go 7400 (NVS120m) w/256MB & 1680x1050 display:

Set the 'On resume, display logon screen' checkbox and the bubbles/ribbons slow down a little (acceptably fast still). But bubbles are always a LITTLE choppy... just a slow mobile by today's standards.

So how about anyone else? Care to test this to see if you can tell the diff between checked and unchecked?

Well, it goes deeper! For grins, I decided to uncheck that 'On resume, display logon screen' box, set the screensaver to come on in 1 minute, applied it (duh), then immediately hit 'Windows-L' to lock the machine. About one minute later, the bubbles popped up and they were crawling (6 monitors enabled of course). Do it again without locking the screen in any way and they fly.

So what gives here? Anyone seeing this or do they not care about locking? In a way, I don't really give a rip because they're all sleeping after 30 minutes anyway....

But this is consistent. I can make it happen every time.

I think you may need to ask yourself why you purchased a PC to start with...

C'mon guy's, it's a chuffing screensaver! Are your PC's no more than a fancy looking 'state-of-the-art' lava-lamp?

I honestly can't remember when I last saw a screensaver on it's own accord, If I leave my PC alone for too long it shuts down the unnecessary stuff off on purpose.

Sorry but I just can't fathom how anyone would format just because a screensaver plays up. what is a screensaver for at the end of the day?

Mmmm, I do believe I said I don't really care cuz they sleep after 30 minutes In fact, I don't even use screensavers like this because they burn power and generate more heat from the GPUs.

I just hate bugs. Especially ones like this... this is so retardedly easy for the coders to fix it isn't even funny. It's just absurd that it made it through Betas, RCs, and to RTM.

I know that screen savers aren't really nessesary but they do show you a quick view of how things are running if you watch them.

Mine started acting funny and it was right after I checked the show security screen on restart so I've unchecked it and will see what happens.
