Found this site... HEXUS.net - News :: How to use Windows 7 to diagnose system sleep problems : Page - 1/1, while searching for ways to fix my crashing to blue screen after bringing windows out of sleep problem, and it tells you how to generate an energy report that can diagnose windows sleep issues.

I successfully generated the report, but when i was able to locate it, when i go to open it, it's set to open with internet explorer, so it just pops up the browser to the home page.

Its an HTML document, wanted to try to open it with notepad but i dont know how to do it from that location.

Someones gotta know how to do this!

OK i entered the hexus site as a link, but it changed it to that whole description deal of it, dont know why it did that....

If you have found the report you should just be able to double click it to view it in your default browser. I just tried it and it worked for me.

    Hello Breacherman,

Try the tutorial below on this to see if it may be able to help instead. You should be able to view the report from it in Internet Explorer without a problem. If not, then double check to make sure that Internet Explorer is set as the default program with all of it's associations (ex: HTML) set to it as well.

    Hope this helps for now,

Just in case anyone comes across this via Google like I did I have the solution.

Copy the energy-report.html out of the system32 directory and then try and open it again, it should open fine.

5 years later this still applies. Energy report opens blank file in windows 8.1 too if you try to open it from inside system32. I'm guessing the reason for this is that browsers don't have admin rights by default, so they can't read admin files.

It's amazing how little information Google has on this... Or maybe I just typed the wrong keywords :\

P.S.I registered just to post this comment
