I tend to agree here.
IMHO, the best thing is preventing an infection in the first place.
Sadly, once you are already infected to a certain point, the best option is to bite the bullet and thoroughly clean the HDs and re-install fresh.
Especially if a worm or virus is buried deep, such as a rootkit.
A lot of effort I know, but by the time its all said and done, its a a lot less headache and time.
Once other thing you may try is Malwarebytes & Run it from safemode.
Have you tried PowerEraser to see if it can located and kill the worms?
