    Shutdown problem windows xp


    Hi I have a problem on my old pc that my son uses every time I shutdown it just hangs on the blue shutting down screen. After a while i have to hold in the power button to turn it off and its a real pain. Any help would be very helpfull.

    This is a Windows 7 support forum,not XP, but ...

    Download and install User Profile Hive Cleanup Service, see if that helps the shutdown. If not, try opening Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and look at the Processes tab. See what is running and start ending them one at a time until you find the one that is causing the shutdown to hang. Post back with that info and we'll see what can be done to resolve it.

    Please open task manager and post a screenshot of the processes that are running.

    Thanx Ztruker will try the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service wont be untill tomorrow though wil let you know if it helps or not.
