    chkdsk can not performed?

When this HP Mini is booting, chkdsk runs every time, and this message "autochk can not run due to error caused by software installed recently......use system restore....." always shows up.

    what is going on?

    Hello Fluidmotion,

What antivirus program do you have installed? Is it AVG by chance?

    As a test, try this:
    • Uninstall your antivirus program for now.
    • Schedule chkdsk to run at boot again.
    • Restart the computer to have chkdsk run.
    • When it's finished and you are back in Windows 7, reinstall your antivirus program.
    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

This HP Webcam stopped working a few weeks ago, and I called HP tech support Sunday.

uninstalled webcam, reinstalled it, that did not work,
finally, they told me to restored this netbook to facory condition.
    and
I installed Norton internet security when restored this HP mini.
    and i have window defender.
    so
    i will try your test.

Do you know how Norton Internet Security interfered with chkdsk?

To answer this question I'd need several thousands of pages.

For the love of god, avoid Norton at any cost.

You might try setting Boot Time Protection off.

    Fluidmotion,

That's great news. It's most likely the "Boot Time Protection" setting that Kado mention that is preventing chkdsk from running at startup. Turning it off may allow you to run chkdsk at boot, and then turn it back on afterwards.
