Assigning the RAM to graphics memory

I wonder, can I assign some of the RAM to the graphics card, so the graphics card will think its its own memory, and will use that along its own memory.
I am asking because I need like 70 MB more memory on the graphics card for GTA IV, so the textures will stop disappearing. I know this would most likely cause slowdown, but I wonder if its possible.

Some "built in" video chips on motherboards use some amount of system ram as it's video ram and that may be adjustable. But as far as any plug in video card goes I've never seen that option.

You could try running the game in 16bit instead of 32bit colour. It won't look as nice but it will be using less memory or try reducing the resolution.

Post your system specs. Certain add in video cards do support "turbo cache" or whatever label given to shared RAM. Can't help you without specs.

it looks like your card just doesn't have enough vram - you will either have to play as Frostbite suggests above (ie lower resolution and/or bit-depth), or buy a new card with more video memory.

sorry to break the bad news, but a new card will greatly improve your gaming experience...

Always a good excuse to get new hardware when something doesn't work properly.

NVIDIA TurboCache is available in the NVIDIA GeForce 6200 GPU for PCI Express desktop PCs.

    Not yours.
