Windows 7 hibernates if cpu utilization high

    Hi All,

I have a very annoying problem. If the CPU utilization is high on my laptop, windows 7 goes into hibernate. This happens, for example, if I run a virus program or run some applications that use too much CPU.

Right after it wakes up from hibernate, again it goes into hibernate. This repeats again and again.

    I'm really stuck here.

Do you have any idea why this might be happening?

    Thanks in advance.

    OS: Windows 7 Professional
    Thinkpad T60
    Intel Core Duo T7200
    2GB ram
    100GB 7200rpm hdd

    Welcome to Seven forums satyr83.
You can go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and change the sleep option to Never.
Your CPU may be overheating though. Investigate if there may be dust and dirt around the vents.

Everything has already been set to never in power options. I also run ubuntu on this laptop, this never happens with it.

However, you might still be right about the overheating...

If your CPU gets too hot, it will throttle down to save itself from damage. This is common and can save you from buying a new laptop. I would suggest you monitor CPU temps to see if this is indeed what is happening.
