I plan on installing Ubuntu 11.10 very soon, and I know that when I do it rewrites the grub bootloader to the mbr of my hard drive.
So my question is is there something like a diskpart or cmd code to rewrite the Windows 7 loader to the MBR (As in it loads first).
And please don't say I won't be able to load Ubuntu if the W7L comes first, because it works now, and should work later since they didn't change much in it.
You can find MBR save/restore utilities on the web. Seems to me I remember from my Linux days that grub makes a backup of the MBR during install. I haven't tried Ubuntu in some time. But I used Mandrake 9.1 for quite some time. If you have broadband over a network card the One CD is excellent. Also I found the partitioning tool much more intuitive if you decide to take it off and go back to Windows only. Now they call Mandrake "Mandriva" but there's still a OneCD. Basically it's Mandrake version 10 with a new name.

Seems like they are calling Mandriva "2011" now instead of a version number. Anyway, the Linux stuff, as you say, doesn't change all that much in the basic scheme. Mostly driver support and other stuff in the kernel. I found Mandrake 9.1 very snappy even on a Pentium III with only 128 MB ram. I booted the Mandriva 10 CD a few months ago just to take a look. Pretty much the same stream-lined install. Select all the packages you want, they are downloaded and configured. First boot you're in an XWindow manager with them all installed.
Very smooth.
