By any chance, do you have UAC turned off , or do you use Take Ownership context menu ?
Yep i used to have UAC turned off but after trying to run sfc scannow i turned it on and yesterday when i tried method two it was turned on and yes i do have Take Ownership context menu.
Sometimes taking ownership cause some conflicts to run the utilities which are to run within the ownership of trusted installer .
If you run the "Remove takeownership.reg" , set your UAC to default, and try SFC /SCANNOW Command as per the method two, I hope there will be a difference in the result .
I guess there is no way but using the Take Ownership of file - Vista Forums , method two ... to set it back .
I have already done that a long time ago :| maybe i should try this TrustedInstaller - Restore as Owner - Vista Forums ?
Idk if im doing it right, but i remember i used take ownership on windows folder so im taking ownership as trusted installer and selected "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" but i get this message "You do not have permission to read the contents of directory C:\Windows\CSC\v2.0.6. Do you want to replace the directory prmissions with permissions granting you Full Control ?
All permissions will be replaced if you press Yes." and then when i press yes "An error occured while applying security information to:
C:\Windows\CSC\v2.0.6
Acess is denied."
And some other like "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\eamonm.sys"
Should i continue and don't mind that i can't take ownership of those files ? ^^
