    Waking up from sleep causes black screen.


    Sorry don't got much time so I do it quick,

    when I put my PC in sleep mode and wake it up I get a black screen which forces me to restart the PC.

    Any help?

    Well, I didn't. But I figured out that applications keep running with a black screen. That's the only thing that mattered.

    For what it's worth, I'd say you have a problem with your video card.

    Are you using the NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT 285.62 driver by any chance?

    If so, you may want to revert to the 280.26 version as the 285.62 driver has known black screen issues.

    I know this to be true because when I installed it I got a black screen (i.e. no video, sound was OK) when using the Windows Media Center.

    When I rolled back to the previous version (280.26) the problem was solved.

    there is a new nvidia beta driver 285.79 that supposedly fixes black screening. i'm trying it now.

    just did a sleep/restore cycle. seemed to work.

    prev. whql version 285.62 left the screen black while it was restoring until way late in the process, tho it did eventually re-energize the video.

    Oh now it doesn't work again, got the latest nVIDIA driver beta. Any help?

    I had a similar problem. It would be worth checking that your monitor isnt confused about whether it is receiving an analog or digital signal from the display card:
