Notebook lost power and now windows 7 take 25 minutes to boot.

Hi I´m new to the forum.I was searching on the forum and google,to see if I could find an answer to my problem, but no lucky.

I was using my laptop, then I lost the power, because I use without battery. After that I start having problem with boot sequency,it take more or less 25 minutes to start the windows. And before was just 20 or 30 seconds to boot. When the windows starts it run normal.

Is there something that I could do it? To boot normal as used to be?
    I use windows 7 32 bits

    Thanks

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It's possible your hard drive is corrupted as a result of the power loss so you might want to run a check on it as this tutorial explains.

    Disk Check

Are you saying the boot sequence has changed? If so, you'll need to go into the BIOS to see what is going on - if you're unsure what to look for just load the default settings - your computer manual should show you how to access the BIOS settings.

Well after 6 hours, finished the disk check, then i restarted again, but still the same problem.I think something got corrupted on the boot sequency, because the computer runs fine after starting.

Any more ideas what it could be? I don't want save my data and format the computer again,it's just a pain on the ass ,I would first try to sort it out the problem, without the drastic option of formatting the computer

You could try a repair install as this tutorial explains: Repair Install

It won't affect your personal files or applications you've installed, but I'd advise you to backup anything important to you first.

Repair install will do the job, but before going for it, you may try for Startup Repair at first ... and as a second option, you may try the boot defrag option of Puran Defrag Free Edition .

Startup repair will reload your boot files in the system reseerved partition, and so there is a chance that the boot issue will be solved.

You could also try going into the start menu, clicking all programs, clicking accessories, right clicking command prompt, click "run as administrator", and when the command prompt opens, type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. This will do a system file check and fix any problems with Windows files.

If that does not work, restart your computer with more options by tapping f8 every second as your computer first turns on (before you get the "Starting Windows" screen with the Windows logo on the black screen and (C) Microsoft Corporation at the bottom). See if there is an option to repair windows. This will give you the option to repair your startup operation.

Another option is to insert a Windows 7 disc into your cd/dvd drive and run the repair by clicking "Install Windows", waiting for Windows to scan for previous versions of windows, and then running "repair windows" when it finds your Windows 7 installation, which will repair your startup operation as well. See Startup Repair

For further help if these options do not work, please list your computer information (Dell, HP, Sony, etc.).

If you want to do a boot defrag using Windows and not needing a third party program, you can do so by going into the start menu, clicking all programs, clicking accessories, right clicking command prompt, clicking "run as administrator", and typing "defrag -c -b" into the command prompt without the quotes.
