Does Outlook RSS feed prevent Windows from entering sleep?

    hello,

    I have Windows 7 Professional x64 and Outlook 2010.

I have one RSS feed in Outlook and I was curious whether the subscription somehow prevents sleep mode. I have Outlook running all the time.

I'm asking because when I use the mouse after a long delay, the monitor flashes back immediately and my wifi connection to the home network is still active - in the past the connection has to be re-established after sleep.

I have had no problem with sleep mode; this is just for my fyi. I realize I could just shut down Outlook if I need to stop the RSS feed (true?).

    Thanks for your help.

I won't bump this again, but maybe my question is whether Windows 7 polls constantly to pull RSS feeds, or does the RSS source push to listeners that are mainly waiting.

    Any thoughts? Thanks again.
