Unable to run chkdsk hard drive write protected

    HI,

    I am unable to install windows as i am getting error as "the partition is write protected" and i am unable to run chkdsk also in command prompt it gives the same error. I cant even install registryriver.exe as i cant login to run it....what shall i do?

    Tried all of the above. I can see the partition in diskpart and it reports it healthy, although demoted from c: to e: for some reason. Instead c: is a 100Mb partition labelled "System Rese".
    When I try to run chkdsk e: /f /x /r, I get the error: "CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives"

    Tried running bootrec but it fails to find any windows volumes (had been running win10, but died a few days ago...)

    Any suggestions?

    My teacher let me steal anot older dell precision 390 from her class. And I bought some computer parts on ebay to test them out and the machine rejected them then the Os wouldn't boot. I had the same message also when I tried chkdsk but I tried what you said and it's doing something. But I believe I will have to do some more to get whatever the school has done to it off anymore help would be appreciated!!
