FL Studio 10 and Windows 7 CPU Spikes

I just installed Windows 7 64 bit and FL Studio 10. Whenever I open up a project in FL studio 10 the CPU spikes to 90%. I am usin an ASIO soundcard in the EMU 1616m and a quadcore CPU. This never happened when I was running FL studio inside XP 32 bit.

    Any help?

I have a Sonar X1 studio (and learing Pro Tools).

Are you using the latest drivers for Win 7 64 bit, from Creative for the EMU? Creative Worldwide Support

Some OS functions and some sound functions are handled differently in Vista/Win 7 so how it worked in XP compared to Vista/Win 7 isn't a good comparision.

Also run the free DPC latency checker and see if anything shows up. DPC Latency Checker

Thanks for your help. Ran the DPC everything is reporting fine that the card is suitable for audio use. I am using the updated Windows 7 drivers for the EMU. I know that XP and 7 are different but you would think a project that was fine in XP would barely touch the CPU in windows 7.

Here is some optimizing suggestions from Focusrite. It references for Firewire use, but many of the suggestions are for general recording use.

Look them over and give some of them a try and see if it helps. It helped my Win 7 64 bit system and Sonar.

I've seen similar suggestions on the Avid (Pro Tools) site.
