Notebook slow - changing focus, opening new windows...
Hi there,
I did a clean boot(disabling startup items) a while ago and after reverting back to normal boot, my computer became pretty slow in doing certain things. I don't know if this has anything to do with my clean boot or if it was just coincidence that it happened then.
Anyway, booting seems to be as fast as usual, but if I change the focus from one window or program to another it takes a while. Also when i open a new window/program it takes a long time. When opening a folder with many icons in it, it takes pretty long to load all the images. Also loading in games takes longer than it used to, once everything is loaded it runs OK. But anytime it has to load something new, like a graphical effect the program freezes for a few seconds. The rest of the computer does not freeze then.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on an Asus K52JE notebook. I defragmented my hard drives, did some cleanup with ccleaner, MS security essentials says no viruses or anything. There don't seem to be any programs using a lot of CPU or memory according to the task manager.
Any idea what can cause these problems?
If you need further information let me know.
Cheers
Bengt
