Is it possible to repair W7 without the installation CD?

    Hello

W7 as some problem like <Translation}: "Windows Explorer stop functioning"

I would like to try repair it, but I had bought my licence from a student offer from Microsoft from the net. I don't have any installation disk

Is it possible to repair it without the installation disk?

You can get the ISO here Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life and burn it to a DVD and then do the repair install.

You can also try to repair Windows system files from the command prompt, before trying the repair install suggested above.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

It might help without spending so much time on the repair.

    Hello ciprian

Did the SFC /scannow. Message say: Did not found error

Still, I got "Windows Explorer" failure when I open Window and when I try to access some of my PC configuration tool.

Is there other test like that or a more deep Windows 7 files testing

You can also try this: System Restore if you have a restore point before this happened.

I did try that, but when loading, I got the message... "Starting Windows" then... nothing. Tried it 3 times so definitively, not working for me

Is there a missing file. Probably that the original disk file is looking for an hidden info on the disk.

Did you try starting the installer from within Windows and selecting Repair My Computer?

Have a look at this tutorial Repair Install see if it will help.
Otherwise you could back up all your data to an external hard drive and do a clean install.
