Unable to defrag from CMD despite being logged in as Administrator

    Hello

I have a Thinkpad T60 running windows 7 untimate (trial version) when logged in as an Administrator and when I try to defrag the hard disk from the command prompt using the command:

    c:\>defrag c: /a

    I get the following error:

"The disk defragmenter cannot start because you have insufficient priveleges to perform this operation. <0x89000024>"

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is for Windows 7, Win Server 2008 and Vista.> Command Reference Overview [H1S]

    Defrag commands.> Defrag

I beleive your syntax of the command is wrong. See the second link above.

create an icon on desktop, right click. Select "Run as administrator". Now try it....

Or open a Elevated Command Prompt then run it.

I tried it on my Win 7 X64 with UAC disabled and it works fine exactly as you typed it.
