Stop the re-indexing of FTP folders

First I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I am web developer and as such this means I use the FTP abilities of Windows a lot. For the sake of speed I need to stop it form indexing an FTP folder every time I click on it. It's fine if it indexes it after I upload a huge number of files but after the initial upload tons of small changes usually are made to one or two files at a time. And it's not horrible if I am in my office to have to wait and extra couple seconds to upload a new changes. But, as quite often I may not be in my office (at clients location), I have to sometimes rely on slow and unstable connection and that re-indexing can take up to 15 seconds (possibly more) and it gets down right annoying when there is no need for it to be re-indexing the folder.

I just recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7, prior to this I had a laptop running Windows XP and I preferred how it handles FTP over Windows 7. So can I get Windows 7 FTP to work more like the Windows XP FTP?

I think you can stop Search from indexing any folder you want. See here: Windows Search - Configure and Use

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that is what I am looking for. The first bit of the article (latter part is advanced searching options), while good information, it doesn't look to have any way to even make changes to a FTP folders (I did play around with the "Indexing Options" tool beyond the tutorial instructions). And in this case I don't think search indexing is causing the problem.

Let me try to give a bit more detail hopefully that will help. I have setup all my FTP folders in "Windows Explorer", and when I click on a FTP folder it takes a few seconds (more on bad connections) to retrieve the list of files and sub-folders. While ok for the first visit (for the day) to an FTP folder, its not ok every time I click the folder to upload a changed file.

Its looking like I may have to resort to finding a third party FTP client software. It it's amazing how Microsoft builds a tool that is initially useful and later versions are so awful we have to resort to third part software to do the job right. It's no wonder you need these enormous hard drives, you have to have two version of ever tool and feature in Windows just to use Windows.

I've used FileZilla in the past and been happy with it.
