FS9 on Windows 7 ultimate memory error :(

    Hello everyone,

I have a Intel i5 2500k 3.3Ghz, with 4GB memory running on windows 7 ultimate 64 bits. My problem is, since I changed the OS to this "more advanced", I cannot play Flight Simulator 2004 without this error message that closes the game. "Insuficient memory, please check your hard drive bla bla bla..." My system only has Flight Simulator installed, plus microsoft office and Avg antivirus (not counting with all the system updates, drivers etc). I dont understand this problem, because before this OS, I had Win XP 32 bits, with a lot more programs and addons installed and running, and I never had this problem...even with all the graphics pumped up to the max in the game. My graphic card is Asus En9800GT nvidia with 1gb ddr3 and HD with 400GB still to use (same board and HD used with XP).

Can anyone help me solve this surreal issue, it's driving me nutts and I'm feelling sorry already for changing to this new OS...what a disappointment

    Many thanks!

    Daniel

Try running FS in administrative mode.Right click on FS shortcut on desktop and click on run as administrator.

If this doesn't help then run the game in windows xp sp3 or windows vista mode.Again right click on FS shortcut, click on properties, choose compatibility tab and change compatibility settings there.

    Hope this helps

    Thank you for your answer,

Unfortunatly, I've tried already to run it in compatibility mode and as administrator, with no sucess...I'm confused because one of the reasons I "upgraded", was to get fully use of the memory installed as win xp only detected 3GB of memory (with 4GB installed), and now the results are just the oposite what a ripoff...

    Thanks anyway

Sorry to hear that.I played FS9 on windows 7 without any problems.Maybe reinstalling the game in compatibility mode might solve the problem.

When uninstalling FS9 choose to keep the game & user settings so that your saved games are not deleted and you can play from where you left off after installing the game.

    Try this NTCore's Homepage

It will patch your fs9.exe and let it use more than 2gbs of ram. I used to get ctds and oom errors but after I used the patch fs9 was able to use more than 2gbs and no more crashes! This patch will only work on 64-bit operating systems!

Your fs9.exe should be in Program files (x86)/Microsoft games/Flight simulator 9/

I would make a backup of your original fs9.exe and place it somewhere safe while also renaming it something like fs9.exe.backup

    Hope this helps!
