Windows processes using up CPU and causing fan rpm problems

    Hi,
I seem to have an issue with running processes in my windows 7 OS. I have run norton 360 scans and optimizers to no avail. It also seems to be causing my system fan to speed up and slow down all the time....Here is a screen shot of my processes and there are many more running if I show processes from all users.

    Thx, Christopher

You are not showing all the processes. See snip.

74 processes is quite high. I normally have 50 or fewer.

It would help if that pic had the columns expanded so we can see more detail and if you ranked the columns in descending order of usage.

Another thing you can try: run msconfig and look at the services tab. Check "hide all Microsoft services". Then uncheck everything that is left on the list and reboot. Does the problem persist in that case?

My friend I did run msconfig and did as you said which resulted in the fan returning yo normal....I do thank you. I will now see if I can reduce the processes safely without affecting performance...

    Thx
