Can someone let me know if chkdisc can be used to check and repair / remove bad sectors for an EXTERNAL hard drive?
Yes. You can run it by going to start then click on computer. Then right click on the external hard drive. Then you click properties. Then click on the Tools tab. Finally click on check this drive for errors. You can now choose what you want chkdsk to scan and attempt to recover.
