Disable "Scan and Fix Removable Disk", without disabling autorun

I found this solution for this annoying problem, which is, disabling autorun.
Disable Scan and Fix for Removable Drives in Windows - How-To Geek

I am looking for a way to disable this prompt, without disabling autorun. Is it possible, or is it an integral part of the autorun?

    thanks

It's almost never a bug, more likely your stick or drive actually needs repair. Run a full Disk Check
from the Disk Tools, not the one which autoruns.

If that fails run SFC -SCANNOW Command

Though i'm not sure of MS's criteria, and occasionally there is a bad drive, i'm sure that most are false alarms. I go through many drives of different shapes and sizes, many of them are new.

BTW, i would really appreciate any KB or material which defines the criteria of a drive that needs fixing.

It may not be sound practice for most, but still, that's what i'm trying to do: disable the warning without disabling autorun.

I never get this message unles I have yanked the drive while reading/writing from/to the drive. Either there is inconsitencies with the drive or system issues. I try to always use the Safely Remove Hardware feature in Windows to avoid this prompt.
As Greg has pointed out, running CHKDSK on the drive or SFC /SCANNOW on the system should set you aright.

Again, i know both chkdsk and SFC, but that was NOT my question. Also, i do take the pain of always safely remove drive, however annoying it may be. I am NOT asking about the "Fix your drive" usefulness (or uselessness).

    My question is:
How do i disable "Scan and Fix Removable Disk", without disabling autorun?

I do know that this is not the ideal tweak, nevertheless that is what i am trying to accomplish.

    Thanks

This is an attempt to prevent that prompt , without disabling anything. So while it may not seem to answer your question, if it works, then indeed it does.

    Open an advanced command prompt:

Start> In search box type cmd> Right click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator> In command prompt type

    CHKDSK D: /F

D: being the drive letter of the removable media. After running that scan, remove and reinsert the media. See if it doesn't prompt again.

We use Best Practices here so are not going to help you hack your System to disable a function which works perfectly well and is absolutely required to warn if a drive needs repair. This is the top Win7 help forums on the web, not a hackers site.

I get the idea. I didn't think this is that far out, as to be considered "hacking", but rather a minor tweak.

I agree that Best Practices should be respected, but the "top down" tone an the personal factor (we vs you) is uncalled for.

You can say the same, without elitism.
