Need help in increase cpu load of a program and more.

Is there anyway to make a program run at a higher cpu load? Is there also a way to increase the network activity for a program which can be found at the network tab of resource monitor? I feel that the program i am running is using way too little.

There is but it will cause instability, and wont gain you much.

    Instability? Meaning crashing or more?

A program will always use as much CPU and network bandwidth that it can, there is really no way to just right click it and say "use more cpu".

If you feel that a program is going too slow then it is because of something that is slowing it down. When transferring files it can be either your local HD or the remote HD or other activity on the network limiting what you can use.

If this is a game then the GPU can be slowing the program down by not processing it's share of the workload fast enough.

Or maybe your CPU is too busy with other programs.

The only way to really make a program use more CPU and get more work done is to try to identify it's bottlenecks and remove them. If drive performance is an issue, go SSD and or RAID for example, if GPU performance is an issue, then a new video card may help.

Course the program could also be badly written and nothing will really help. But unless you have access to the source code and are a coder, you can't just go in and "fix" it :)

P.S. If we know what the program is and/or what it is trying to do, maybe more specific help can be given :)

The fps of the game is fine. Its just that i have unstable ping. So i thought its the network activity.

Ah, well your net speed/latency over your ISP are the biggest bottlenecks of all for any program running

If you are on wireless, then that can be a huge cause, get off wireless for gaming :)

If wired, then it's likely your ISP or something between you and the server.

In rarer cases your home network may have a bad Ethernet card or bad port on a router. A single bad card on ANY computer when turned n can make your entire network slow and laggy by causing tons of dropped packets.

If you know the address of the server you can run "tracert <server address>" from a command line and it will show you the ping times between every machine and router between you and the server. You can then tell (maybe) where the slow down or instability lies...
