Welcome to Seven Forums JDD. When this is occurring, open Resource Manager, and view the memory section to see what is consuming so much memory.

Thanks for the welcome and quick response...

Besides MS Malware process, DWM is the second most usage @ around 33,000...Is this normal range for that? What is DWM.exe anyway?

    What Is Dwm.exe?

    • Dwm.exe assists in displaying the operating system's visual theme and format. The Dwm file is responsible for some of the graphic effects in Windows Vista and 7, including live previews, window transparencies and 3-D effects. It also serves to control icons and desktop themes, and offers support for high-resolution graphics. The Desktop Window Manager program performs these graphic-based functions every time the user opens a new program window.

Ok, well, looking at my jpg's above, can anyone tell me if they see anything that can help me in knowing if there is anything out of wack or is my machine running like this because it must run at such a high clip?????

You only have a gigabyte of memory. And your machine is doing anything but being idle.

You can help us by filling in your system specs

System Info - See Your System Specs

It looks like you only have 1GB of ram? That would be a major contributor, it is the bare minimum. Also, based on your screenshots, you are using a custom theme, which would explain the high Dwm.exe usage.

I'd say with 1GB ram, your usage is to be expected. A Guy

    Specs updates...

Yea, i think the dwm / themes is prob the problem along with only 1 Gig or RAM. When running WIN Vista previously, I didn't have this problem. I have been running '7' for about 6 months now, but never realized that I was using so much RAM.

Thanks for updating the specs. Windows 7 will work on 1GB ram, as you have seen, but it is really the bare minimum. I wouldn't have less than 2 GB. If it causes no issues, it's fine to us a lot of your ram, that's what it's there for. But if it causes you issues, themn you have too little. Your biggest memory usage is Defender BTW. A Guy
