Did you manually remove all the references to Tuneup Utilities in the Registry too? One has to be very careful when manually editing the Registry so that no relevant data gets deleted by mistake. To be 100% safe do it only after imaging the System Volume (C) Drive. That shall enable you to restore the image if you make a mistake in editing the Registry.
Yeap, I've googled on how to manually remove tuneup utilities, and found some relevant information on their website on how to do that.. I've no way but to do a clean reinstall of the os, and made a system image backup.. now I decided not to use tuneup registry cleaner anymore as I do not want it to mess up my registry again
Reinstall Windows and don't ever use a registry cleaner again. Microsoft designed Windows 7 to optimize itself and to run better than previous versions of Windows. Whoever told you that registry cleaners were good clearly doesn't knwo what they're talking about. The only time I ever use a registry cleaner is on Windows XP and that is when I use CCleaner. Even now, I avoid those programs and I try doing Malwarebytes virus scans before even thinking about installing CCleaner or any other optimization utility.
