Windows 7 x32 is slow, with lot of hdd loadtime

    Hello all

    My computer is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, E8400, 3Ghz, 6 GB ram (3,24 usable) onboard graphics.
Windows 7 Pro SP1, 32 bit. Windows installed on 60 gb partition, 16 gb free.
    The memory is 2 x 1 GB and 2 x 2 GB.

It's a new installation. The problem is when changing programs, or working in general with Windows it's sloooow, and there are constantly a lot of load on the harddisk. Even in Chrome browser, when changing tabs, the load is there.

Starting a heavy program, like Picasa, will get it to hang because of load time from harddisk.

Even my old laptop with lower specs is better.

What can the problem be? Windows XP SP3 with same setup worked like a charm. Will it be better to install Win 7 SP1 x64?

    Thanks.

maybe it is your hard disk, i have a 5400 rpm hard disk and its working fine
even i have an intel core 2 duo P7350 @ 2.00 GHz and a total 5878 MB ram
    try defragging your hard disk

That's a reasonably strong PC. A 64-bit installation isn't likely to be faster.

Do you do ordinary PC maintenance as a matter of habit?

Have you inspected Task Manager, Resource Monitor, or msconfig?

Those are 3 areas that will provide clues into slow operation.

You need to find out through those 3 areas what is hogging your CPU, processes, and possibly RAM.

Has your PC ever been checked for malware or disk fragmentation?

Now I have ordered a Intel SSD disk and I will instead Win 7 64x on that when I receive. I'm sure that's the problem.

    Else I trash the computer...

x64 will be no faster 32bit FYI. You need to defrag use special program such as "Puran Defrag" .. and also follow ignatz advice.
