If you'll update us on any specific results of each step we can customize them for you more.

If at any time you can get into Safe Mode, run Malwarebytes. We have stronger solutions if that isn't sufficient.

Is it possible this is the fake AV infection which falsely warned you of infection to trick you into clicking on it's phony scan, then infected your PC?

Wow, I check back on your repairs and find you've already Clean Reinstalled Factory OEM Windows 7.

Wish I'd had the chance to link it earlier so you could have seen how to copy out your stranded files. Too late now.

Be sure to read over the steps anyway to understand the best methods for maintaining Win7 based on countless reinstalls we've helped with here.

    Enjoy (reinstalled!) Win7!

having what sounded like a similar problem so thought I'd give it a try. Managed to get PC to go to dVD first, lots of whirring and noise followed by blank screen and silence..... tried the FAQ page as recommended as above but the tips didn't get me any further along :-(
