CHKDSK not fixing corrupt partition

As stated previously the Product key audited by a keyfinder on a factory OEM install cannot be used to Clean Reinstall Win7 since it is the OEM-SLP mass activation key which is different than the key on the COA sticker.

The activation options are to back up the OEM-SLP Activation file (not supported by these forums) to activate a clean reinstall, or use a Win7 backup image or Factory Recovery Disks.

I found the Win 7 upgrade install DVD and there's a separate key on it actually (readable), so hopefully I only need that because the Vista sticker on the laptop is only readable for the first 5 characters.

It sounds like this is Win7 Upgrade kit given out by manufacturers just before Win7 release to keep PC sales up. They were provided by MS on the condition that they be a clean Win7 Installation DVD which can also be used for a Clean Reinstall. So far the ones we've seen have proven to be retail OEM disks, meaning they are locked to the first mobo installed upon.

So you can use it to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If this is a standard retail Upgrade disk, then if you install to a new or cleaned HD you'll have to leave the Product key blank during install, then afterwards do the quick registry workaround given in Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version to activate Upgrade version .

Ok so when I first put it in and booted the Windows disc, the drive wasn't being detected but after taking it out and putting it back in, it found it. Thankfully that was the only problem I had, I installed straight from the Windows 7 upgrade disc, and have now gotten all my stuff onto this new drive, which runs perfectly.
