    "Beep" sound, working fine

OK so this happened twice till now.

I am doing some casual work on the laptop, then there's a "Beep" sound for like 1 second and then a "tek" sound similar to the closing of CD Drive but low in volume.
BTW The speakers were set on mute so the sound was not from the speaker, and there was no CD in the CD drive.
Everything seems to be working fine before and after the beep.

    What could this be?

Running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate.

We'd need a little more information on your system. Is it a laptop or a desktop? I know that both of my ThinkPad laptops will beep at me if they detect an unknown key combination (which can be disabled in BIOS), but this might not be your issue.
