Try uninstalling your Antivirus and see if the problem persists..

Anyone else has the same issue?

The suggestion to uninstall your av program, is to eliminate it as a cause for your issue... It perplexes me why you would ask for help, yet reject a suggestion as simple as this, then ask for other solutions.. Its a simple suggestion and you can always re-install your a/v ...

    Good Luck...

Yes, I see. I first would like to know if that's a known issue and if other users has the same problem. Uninstalling it, as you suggest, would eliminate the (possible) cause, not fix it. But I will eventually do it, not just yet though. That's why I asked if anyone else experiences this.
    Thanks again,

Oh, thanks for the update. But (how) are you sure it's Avira? (On the Avira forum they say it can't be it...)

I will try to unsintall it and see what happens when I have time, probably tonight (I am not at home at the moment). However, that's still not a proof that Avira is the cause... is it?

    Hi everybody,
I have exactly the same problem too ("waiting for background programs to close" on shutdown, chkdsk at 50-60% of the boots, no issues found by chkdsk).
I don't want to completely disable chkdsk as well...
Has someone found the proof of the relationship with Avira (I use it too), or other solutions to this issue?
(Since last week no one has any news in this thread... I wanted also to "up" this problem...)
