Start Menu Error
Windows will not let me keep restart for the button for shut down. I got Advanced System Care to change it somehow, but when I reboot it shows Shut down option again.

Right click on the Start orb > Properties > Start menu button > Power button action. Set it there and do not forget APPLY.
This is on win 7 home pre. A desktop...The registry entry for me did have 4 the value for restart that I wanted. So something else must be wrong.
I have already tried to set it from the start menu. It shows restart,I hit apply and check, and it still shows shut down.
One more question...how did I get a vertical bars on the taskbar when I open windows, instead of a shaded icon? How do I change this?
Thanks for the speedy replies...
I deleted the software distribution folder in windows folder and now my start menu show restart again. Not sure if it will stay or not.
I'm not a big fan of ASC and it's ilk. You may want to run the System File Checker and see if it finds any issues it can then repair.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
A Guy
Windows said sfc didn't find any issues...thanks for the suggestion though. If you guys can't fix it it can't be fixed.
