Is this too many services running?

I don't know how you can see how much memory a service is running, ( Does it relate to the amount of memory a Process is taking? ) but I noticed I have alot running. Could this large amount be slowing my computer? Is there a program that will scan for shady Services, or show me which ones are using the most memory? Hello and welcome to the forums, regulater!

Oh dear me, thats quite the wall of text you've got there!

Here're some simple tutorials to help you take screenshots of the services on your system and upload them so that they're easier to diagnose:-

Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista - Vista Forums

(the vista tutorial works for windows 7 as well)

Please follow the tutorials, so that we can help you better!

As an example, here're screenshots of the services on my system in 4 windows:-

    Steps I would take.
    1. msconfig and go to services
    2. In lower left corner put a check mark Hide all Microsoft Services. I recommend not messing with Microsoft Services.
    3. Check what services have check marks and decide what you want
I only have MAM Pro Services checked.
If your not sure what you want, post back with the list. It will be a lot shorter.

    Hello regulater,

    Thanks for replying!

After carefully glancing through your list of services, I've determined which ones you can disable without any consequences...

To change the properties of a service, right click on the entry, click on properties, change the startup type to the status you you want it to be.

    The list:-

AMD External Events - it's just a hotkey poller for AMD Graphics Cards and does nothing important

Adobe Acrobat Updater and Adobe Active File - Adobe Parasites, nothing important

Bing Desktop Service - disable this unless you use Bing on your desktop to search

Distributed Link Tracking Client - No important functionality here

HP Auto - HP's pointless tracking service

HP Client Services - Disable unless you use any of your laptop's supplied HP applications

HP Quick Sychro - See above

    HPWMISVC - See above

HP Software Framework - See above

Windows Search - Part of the indexing service, can cause massive slowdown if you have not specifically told indexing application to index only specific folders

If you have Itunes or use any Apple products on your system, do not disable Bonjour or any Apple service...

    That is all i believe.

I wouldn't have any of those 3rd part services running. You can always start them later if you so desire.
