    how do i restore to factory settings. I dont want to have to reinstall all the drivers

    Use the Recovery Discs provided by your laptop's manufacturer (Which is HP)

    If you don't want the bloatware, choose the Minimized Image Recovery option:

    I doubt whether a Compaq has minimized Recovery. Running Recovery willl indeed reinstall all of the factory crapware and useless OEM utlities which have much better versions built into Win7.

    You must be thinking about XP when you refer to having to reinstall all of your drivers.

    Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and via optional Windows Updates. This and the other Best Practices are here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
