CPU for 64 bit
Is a 64 bit CPU needed to get best results from Windows 7 64bit? I have a 64bit ready motherboard and 4gb RAM but I don't really notice much improvement over the 32 bit Windows 7. My CPU is an Intel Core2Duo 2.80ghz.

64bit windows can't be installed without 64bit processor.
Your processor is 64bit processor.
:)
The difference between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows is subtle to the eye - if discernable at all. It has more to with the capability of a system.
Kind of like USB1 and USB2, or Pentium3 and Core2Duo, or IDE and SATA. Each pair does the same thing. One is capable of doing it faster.
hi
i am using dell inspiron with processor specifications.
2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
4096 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Not hyper-threaded
can i install 64 bit OS on my system.
thanks
It is safe to assume all Core 2 (and above) line of processors are 64bit capable. And pretty much all AMD Processors are 64bit as well.
