    hmm

Could you post the System logs saved directly from eventviewer as the one you send me is only till 12 June 2012

I do see from your Application logs thats you have schedule Windows Backup.... could you try checking your files there.

Thirdly... could you tell me the approx date and time you did the transfer of the photo as well as the defrag....

I saved the system log from the eventviewer but when I tried to upload it I got :Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

How do I get around this?

The windows backup - I backup to external harddrive and was last done on the 26th July - the photo's I have lost were not uploaded until the 2nd August - defrag was started at 9.38pm on 2nd August (photo's were uploaded only a few hours before this)

Click on the Start button, type cmd, click on cmd.exe. A command prompt window appears. Type chkdsk and then press enter. Post that resulting screenshot (using the Snipping Tool on your PC and upload via the paperclip icon that you see here when you create/edit a forum post).

How many drives to you have on the computer, and what are the drive letters associated each?
