SSD boot and shutdown not as fast as hoped?

Having upgraded this weekend to an Intel SSD I was only slightly disappointed by the boot speed. The reason being I upgraded my laptop first and that was with Win8. That comes on fully to the desktop in about 20 sec(older laptop). My Win7 desktop on the SSD seems to take a wee bit longer. I didn't time it yet, but the Win 7 install is still loads faster than it was. Especially loading any programs and games. I noticed that was much much faster. MS word for example I could watch it load, now MS word loads instantly. But the boot and shutdown seem to be not as fast as I hoped.

Take a look in msconfig/Start Up and in non Microsoft Services and see if you have something running that you don't need or want. Sometimes they will drag their feet on startup and shutdown. Example; MS Word. I would have it start only when I tick on it and stop when I close it.

Yeah I only have what I need in startup checked. I was just using MS word as an example. I rarely use it actually, at least at home I rarely use it. Just when I need to update a resume or something along those lines.
