firstly, yes, I realize this is an old thread, but I have an identical problem.
My computer (built by me, but uses a mobo from a 2005 fujitsu-siemens computer) wakes up from hibernate and sleep during the night. When I turn it off, it stays off. When I leave it on hibernate during the day, it stays asleep. But overnight, it wakes up (at some point, I may stay up all night to see if it is a specific time). I have done the following:
-disabled ALL wake up power management stuff in the BIOS
-run the powercfg thing, it had nothing
-looked at the task scheduler after it had woken up. no tasks had happened in the last 24 hours

Thank you for any help in advance

Hey man, I had a similar problem to the one that you are having. My computer kept turning itself on and a set time everyday and it would turn itself off to, Nothing to do with electricity surges or anything like that.

Are you using a network adapter? If so follow these steps and hopefully they will help you out.

    1. Go to Device Manager
    2. Right Click on "Network Adapter" and go to properties.
    3. Go to Power Management tab and untick any of the boxes there that say "Allow this Device to wake up the computer.

When I did this it fixed my problem and my computer has been very obedient since

    Hope this helps!
For wake on lan to work there are 2 requirements. One is the power off state - S3, S10 or something like that- whether to supply enough current to the system in standby mode for the PC to switch on. Secondly if the ethernet chip is on the motherboard itself there would be an option to activate/deactivcate this function in the bios settings. If the ethernet card is an addon card there has to be a 3 wire pigtail which needs to be connected from this addon card to the corresponding berg header on the motherboard. On top of that if MUST receive a magic packet which clearly identifies this interface by its mac adderess - whether on-board or addon card - for it to turn on your PC.

So make sure that correct options are selected in the bios.

I get a wake-up at 3am also. Windows Automatic Update Settings Maintenance Window was set to 3am and scheduled maintenance was allow to wake up PC. It was as simple as a check box.

I tried all of the solutions above but none of then worked. Eventually I found that the network adaptor Power Management (in Device Manager) option of Only allow a Magic Packet to Wake the Computer could not be saved as a deselected option.

Solution: Go to Microsoft website: Information about power management setting on a network adapter (Information about power management setting on a network adapter) and there is a fix for this. The option can now be deselected and it will stay deselected, hoorraaahhhhh!!!! FIXED
