Event Viewer Error: MMC could not create the snap-in

I received the ff. error when I ran event viewer:

MMC could not create the snap-in.

MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have installed correctly.

CLSID: FIX:{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}

So far, I tried sfc /scannow and will be attaching the cbs.log zipped to this message.

I also tried a system restore to a point yesterday.

Finally, I created a new user, logged in, and accessed the event viewer.

By the way, I just noted that I am experiencing the same problems with the task scheduler:

MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have installed correctly.

Repair install didn't work, neither did renaming the machine config file or using a new using account. Strangely enough, sfc /scannow reports no errors.

Will likely do a recovery using an image file from 4th Aug and incremental files since. Also did a full backup of the current setup in case I miss any data or config files.

Did a system backup using Macrium Reflect Free so at least all of the data's backed up.

Can't recover using Win 7 because the only system image available is dated yesterday.

I used DotNetFX Cleanup tool to remove all .NET Framework installations and let the system update and install the latest, new one but the event viewer, task scheduler, and Windows Firewall with Advanced snap-ins couldn't run.

I also tried one program--Sunrise Seven--to disable MMC snap-in security but it couldn't run, either, even with new copies of .NET Framework installed.

I also uninstalled all programs that were installed before I think the problem began.

I used sfc /scannow and it reports no errors.

I am guessing that there's something wrong with the registry, but I can't figure it out. If I can't fix this, I'll have to do a clean install.

Had to do a clean install because even the troubleshoot compatibility option stopped working.

No more registry cleaners and similar tweaks for me, unless someone can recommended something that's safe, at least for the tweaks (e.g., to speed up some tasks, etc.).

Yeah, I've been working on this problem for 3 days now. It is a tuff one for sure. I am beginning to believe it is in the registry also. If/when I find it, I am going to post it EVERYWHERE!
