Event viewer log showing login times when computer is off

I have noticed that my event viewer log is showing successful logins when my computer is off. Is this normal? Does the system ever "log itself in" while its off?

Welcome to Seven Forums pjanlo9. When you say "off", do you mean powered down? As in Start> Shut down? A Guy

Yes, completely shut down, turned off. Also an update, I have noticed that the machine also turns itself on after being powered down (Start>Shut down) as when I return to power it on, it was in sleep mode. There is no one else possibly using this machine but me.

Right click on the Start Orb and select properties. Make sure Power Button Action has Shut Down selected.

You can try to see what last woke the PC after this happens.

    Lastwake Command

Also confirm that you do not have the PC set to Wake on LAN (chances are it is not)

Start> In search box type device manager> Enter> Click the arrow to the left of Network adapters to expand the list> Right click on the adapter and choose Properties> On the Advanced tab - Property, scroll down to Wake on magic packet and confirm in the Value box to the right it is set to disabled> Power management tab uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer
