Computer wakes 1 second after going to sleep

The only way I was able to fix the problem is by restoring my system from a backup.

Since then, I've re-installed windows updates & apps and all is still well. The only thing I have not done is update to the latest hardware drivers, so I suspect that's where the problem stems from.

mgeocaris, I get (or got - updates for our motherboard seem to have stopped dead in their tracks a few months ago) my driver updates from here:

I restored my system from a 6/1 backup, so I suspect the issue lays with one of the updates posted some time between 6/1 and 6/22. Some of the updates are from somewhat dodgy sources, so you might take a close look at that.

Let me / us know what you find, I'd really like to pin this down so I can update drivers. But at this point, since my system is stable and I don't have time to troubleshoot the issue, I'm just going to sit pat on drivers until the situation either works itself out or new drivers come out. Sorry I can't help more than that at the moment.

Try looking under device manager and disabling all hardware except your keyboard from waking the computer. Do NOT disable all devices.

You could also look in your BIOS settings and disable anything that is set to wake the computer.
