How much memory shows in BIOS Setup? It looks like you only have 1GB.

Run this little program to see for sure what you got in that notebook.

Looks like your paging out allot. Either add more memory above 4GB since your running 64 bit windows, which will access all you install, or add another drive, preferably a SSD, and change your page file to it. Probably cheaper to add ram though. Another possibility is to shut off indexing. Post your pc specs to help you better.

First Check your bios for installed memory, if it doesn't show 3GB like you said you had, you need to open the memory compartment on your Laptop and see if any has worked loose or if your "mate" has....lets say borrowed it!!

Your post #8 shows 3072 MB which equals 3.072 GB. Not bad for a Notebook. The next thing I would check is msconfig and see what is running in the background. If you are not sure how to do that post back I will be glad to explain. The specs I find indicates your max ram for your Notebook is 4 gigs 1600 spd.
    1000 mb = 1 gb.

Also, you let your friend borrow it, so it sounds like it could be a virus problem. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes: Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.62 - FileHippo.com

Loaning a computer to a friend is like loaning your girl friend to a friend. They never come back the same.
